# What is the difference between preferred and actual culture in Empatyzer?

Empatyzer’s culture chart separates three things: the culture you would naturally like to work in, the culture people in the selected company, department or team would like, and the culture they report as actually prevailing there.

Preferred culture describes wishes; actual culture is shaped by everyday practices, managers and leadership. Seeing the three side by side shows whether you and your colleagues want the same kind of culture and how far both preferences are from the culture you work in now.
